Raising Awareness on Intellectual Property and INTA Unreal Campaign

Our Senior Associate, Girish Bhatia conducted an engaging session on topic “Intellectual Property and INTA Unreal Campaign” on Friday, 14th March 2025, at VELS School of Law, Chennai. The session witnessed an enthusiastic gathering of over 180 students, with 100 participants joining virtually via Google Meet and the rest attending in person through classrooms. The discussions were highly engaging, particularly focusing on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in counterfeiting. Students were curious about how AI can be leveraged both to combat counterfeits and, paradoxically, how the same technology can be exploited to facilitate counterfeiting activities. Thought-provoking questions were raised, such as how AI can assist brands in identifying and preventing counterfeit products and in what ways counterfeiters can misuse AI to produce and distribute fake goods. Beyond theoretical discussions, students shared real-life scenarios they had encountered regarding counterfeit products. Many reflected on their own experiences, emphasizing the importance of purchasing from authentic and trusted sources to avoid falling victim to counterfeits. This exchange of insights reinforced the significance of informed consumer choices and the role that young legal minds can play in safeguarding brand integrity and consumer trust. Overall, the session was highly interactive and insightful, highlighting the growing curiosity and awareness among students about the interplay between technology, intellectual property rights, and consumer protection.
