INTA Leadership Meet 2024, New Orleans, Louisiana, from November 12-15, 2024.
At the INTA Leadership Meet 2024 in New Orleans, significant progress was made in advancing key initiatives aimed at tackling global challenges in intellectual property.
A central topic of the meeting was the ongoing success of the UNREAL Campaign, a pivotal effort in the fight against counterfeiting. Our partner Rachna Bakhru, alongside other prominent leaders in the industry including Roberta Calazans, Holger Gauss, I. Soley Coban, Lindsey Rothrock, Becki C. Lee, Faneva Rakotomanana, Grace Magid, and Alastair Gray, CPP, gathered to assess the campaign’s achievements and strategize on future actions.
The UNREAL Campaign has made impressive strides in raising awareness about the dangers of counterfeit products, particularly among younger consumers. The leadership team highlighted the success of educational outreach efforts, which have proven instrumental in informing the public about the risks associated with fake goods. There was a shared consensus on expanding these initiatives to broaden the campaign’s reach and further protect consumers and intellectual property globally.
Additionally, our partner Abhishek Nangia participated in insightful discussions regarding data protection, further contributing to the firm’s thought leadership on pressing issues in intellectual property law. These sessions, along with committee meetings, provided valuable perspectives and fostered engaging conversations on various topics related to IP law, policy, and enforcement.
The Data Protection Committee plays a key role in developing and advocating the firm’s policy on the impact of data protection law on trademark rights. It monitors and analyzes data protection cases and regulations across jurisdictions, proposes policy recommendations to the Board, and engages in advocacy alongside relevant committees and organizations.
