Trade Marks
Indian Trade Marks Registry to widen its doors for recording "well known" marks
The new process to record the well known marks is to be rolled out soon. Our post with details of the procedure published on the IPKat blog can be accessed here. Further, during a recent stakeholders meeting by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), it turned out that further clarification on the criteria will most likely come in January 2017. Further, it was also made clear that the list of well known marks which is already in place in India shall remain as it is and the proprietors of the said well known marks need not apply specifically for such a declaration.
